THINGS TO DO AND PLACES TO GO

There are many nice places to go to on the island. What I like most about Paros is its diversity. Every village, every beach, every area, is very different; has it's own atmosphere and visitors. I will give you my selection here, but of course it's very personal.

BOAT TRIP WITH ROFOS BOAT

Relax on a beautiful replica of an old fishingboat from captain Ilias. He will bring you to the most beautiful places, where you can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in turquoise water. They will offer the snorkling masks, and also offers drinks, fruits and a Greek salad.

You can ask us to make a reservation once you are here.

HIKING IN THE NATURE AND THE MOUNTAINS

Paros is a special place for hiking. It has old Byzantine roads (1000 AD) and beautiful nature, no matter if you walk along the coast or in the mountains. You can go by yourself or join a guided tour with Christof. He knows all the paths and all the plants, can tell nice stories about Paros and on top of all, will make a fantastic Greek meze with a drink at (almost) the end of the hike.

You can ask us ot make a reservation once you are here.

THE CAVES OF ANTI-PAROS AND ANTI PAROS BY NIGHT

The caves are one of the most impressing caves you will ever see in your life. They are one of the deepest caves in Europe about 150 meters deep. Don't forget to bring a long sleeved shirt or sweater with you. You need to take a day, or at least half a day, to go to Anti-Paros to visit the caves.

It's nice to combine this with an evening in the main village of Anti-Paros. Nice bars, restaurants and shopping street were no cars are allowed. In half an hour you can walk to the other side of the island / village where you can enjoy the sunset with a nice drink.

(Shops are closed between 14:00 and 18:00.)

BUTTERFLY VALLEY

Butterfly valley is located four kilometers to the north of Aliki. It is a biotope with a small source, which is covered by dense vegetation; cypresses, plane-trees, oleanders, carob trees and orchards. This area is ideal for the Tiger moth butterfly. The butterflies gather at this specific area in June and they "disappear" in August. This happens because in September the female butterflies search for bushy areas to lay their eggs and then, they die. The caterpillars come out of the eggs in October and they turn into butterflies in May. In June, the butterflies come again at the valley and they stay fixed and almost still on the trees till August, when they mate.

Kite surfing at pounta

Here people from all over the world get together for kite surfing. 50 weeks a year with wind. Also the worldchampionships kitesurfing take place on this beach.

Parikia

Parikia is 11 km away from Aliki and the main town of Paros. Strolling around Parikia through the small streets, is a never to forget experience.

Nice shops and restaurants everywhere, and a bit more happening compared to Aliki. Shopping hours are 10:00 - 14:00 and 18:00 - 21:00 or later in high season.

There is a bus from Aliki - Parikia and it takes about half an hour.

NAOUSSA

The old port at the other side of the island, where most of the night life is happening. A lot of bars and restaurants. Prices in general are higher then in Parikia. There is a small port inside, don't miss it...... and an old pirates fort. You can eat nice fish there, just caught by the local fisherman.

To get there you have to take a bus to Parikia, and then another bus to Naoussa..... or rent a car.

LEFKES

A different village, with different people, in the middle of the island, in the mountains. Quiet, no cars/bikes in the old centre. Nice to have a walk through and combine it with lunch/dinner.

To get here by bus is more complicated. Best is to rent a car.

SKORPIOS FOLKLORE MUSEUM

Benetos Skiadas, was a traditional artist from the Greek island, Paros.

He has depicted Cycladic history with large miniatures

of ships and important buildings with unrivaled art and workmanship. Located just a few hundred meters outside Aliki.

WINDSURFING IN GOLDEN BEACH

Sun Wind is a total water sports centre offering Windsurfing, Stand Up Paddle, Kayak, Tubes and other activities. All levels welcome. Have fun!  Relax and enjoy. Golden Beach: True to its name, Golden Beach is a beautiful, long stretch of golden sands. One of Paros’ longest beaches, it is an ideal windsurf site due to the famous “Meltemi” wind, blowing from the north 80% of the time in the summer.

ONE DAY TO NAXOS BY FERRY FROM PAROIKIA

Paros has the advantage of being geographically located in the center of the Cyclades. Starting from here the visitor can visit many of the neighboring islands in a short time.

Naxos is the largest island of Cyclades and it is located in the center of this complex, between Paros and Mykonos. According to mythology, this was the nuptial isle of the god Dionysus, god of wine. This is why there is a sanctuary dedicated to Dionysus in the inland of Naxos island. Ideal for families and romantic couples, Naxos Greece is famous for the exotic beaches.

sculpture workshop

Jessy Boelen is organising every year several sculpture workshops. If you are interested please contact here directly to see if you are can join. No experience needed.

You can not go just for once..... because it takes a while to make a sculpture ;-)

PAINTING, DRAWING AND PRINTMAKING

Later on in the year, starting from june, you can enjoy painting, drawing and printmaking classes with Neva, from Artists on the Move. Paricipants paints and draw in open settings surrounded by stunning views of the Aegean Sea and amid the island's traditional villages. The art workshops are open to all levels of experience from the complete beginner wanting to learn the basics, to the seasoned professional looking for an idyllic setting. Students may choose to paint in oil, acrylic or watercolor.

Clay beach Molos

If you want to have a nice soft baby skin again, go to Molos beach, put clay all over you, wait for the clay to dry, and then dive into the sea. Your skin will feel unbelievable soft...but it is better to wear an old bathing suit.....;-)

Not easy to find, you need to rent a car or bike. And watch out for the current of the sea overthere.

ANTI-PAROS AND THEA

You can take the boat from Punta (where the kite surfing is happening) to Anti-Paros, and you'll be there in 10 minutes. The boat goes every 30 minutes. No cars and bikes allowed in the main town, so it has a different atmosphere. In high season it is a favorite place for many Scandinavian people and they have beautifull boutiques and nice restaurants. Short season, from june untill end of september.

You can also go with a bike/car over the island. There are nice beaches and you can visit the caves.

If you go to Anti-Paros, make sure you take the right road; there are 2 Pounda's; a beach bar at the east side and the boat to Anti-Paros at the west side of the island.

Where the boat leaves from Paros to Anti-Paros is located a restaurant/wine club; Thea, which means 'view'. If you apreciate special wines, you should go there. Owner Nikos can play real nice music, if he's in a good mood. ;-)
